The Challenges of Building a Sustainable Eco Resort – Updated March 2024 (Presented at Ceningan Divers)
Leading the way in sustainable development for marine and eco-tourism operations, Ceningan Divers and Ceningan Resort have been working tirelessly over the past decade to establish sustainable practices and facilities for our dive operation. Earlier this year, we were honoured to achieve a zero-impact score in our latest Green Fins annual assessment. Over the years, our team has spoken at events and collaborated with other organizations, sharing our processes and sustainable practices.
Encouraging Tourism Operators to Embrace Sustainability
On March 4th, Ceningan Divers hosted a round table on sustainable development and a tour of our eco facilities. We welcomed colleagues from the Coral Triangle Center, Konservasi Indonesia, Elasmobranch Project Indonesia, the faculty from the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University), and researchers from Holland for this special event.
The Challenges of Building a Sustainable PADI ECO Center
Ceningan Divers’ co-founder Robert Scales led the way with a presentation on the challenges of building and maintaining our eco facilities. This presentation focused on our commitment to environmental sustainability. We discussed a myriad of trials and errors from the inception of our sewage system to other issues we’ve faced along the way. We shared our journey, flaws and all, to shed light on what it truly means to prioritize sustainable development.
As we shared our various experiences, it was evident that each project represents a vital piece in the puzzle of protecting our planet. With a spirit of collaboration, we concluded the day inspired. Working together, we’re not just making meaningful decisions for our business, but we are paving the way towards a greener future.
